The Nature’s Head Shell Vent with Installation Kit includes a genuine Nature’s Head shell vent engineered for solid-structure installations. Designed specifically for use with Nature’s Head composting toilets, this assembly provides a secure exterior wall termination point to maintain proper system airflow. The kit comes with a small length (12") of 1-1/4" PVC pipe that connects to the back of the shell vent and a trim ring for the inside wall to finish your installation.
Correct ventilation is essential for sustaining aerobic composting conditions and controlling odor within your composting toilet system. This wall-mounted shell vent kit enables a clean, professional installation through wood-framed, insulated, or solid exterior walls.
Technical Overview
The exterior shell vent incorporates an integrated insect screen filter that allows continuous airflow while preventing bugs and debris from entering the ventilation system. This helps maintain sanitary conditions without restricting ventilation performance. It is engineered for connecting to 1-1/4 PVC pipe. The exterior shell vent mounts securely to the outside wall surface and includes mounting screws for installation. It can be painted if desired.
This installation kit includes a 12-inch (1 ft.) PVC vent pipe and a single plastic trim ring. The 12-inch length provides an appropriate length for routing the ventilation system through most standard structure walls. If a shorter length is required, the pipe must be trimmed by the installer to match wall thickness. The plastic trim ring slides over the PVC pipe and goes against the inside wall of the structure to provide a finished appearance.
For proper installation, the required wall penetration size is:
1 3/4 inch diameter hole (to allow PVC pipe clearance) A 1-3/4 inch hole saw is recommended (not included!)
